Archiving Media Culture acts as a forum to bring together scholars across the Birmingham Centre for Media & Cultural Research who are actively involved in research into media based archiving and heritage culture. In particular we are interested in how these archives and practices are inflected by digital technologies and environments.
As a result, our research is necessarily diverse and explores all aspects of archiving and cultural heritage practice and the opportunities and tensions that present themselves for scholars, institutions and practitioners in these fields.
Archiving Media Culture is one of several research teams within the Birmingham Centre for Media & Cultural Research. The others include Interactive Cultures, Media for Social Change, Screen Cultures and Creative Enterprise and Cultural Policy.
